As a financial analyst, I was able to predict when my company would collect our accounts receivables. My target variable was days early/late compared to the invoice payment date, and my data set included variables like the invoice due date, the customer, the payment terms, and total invoice amount.

Supply Chain

As a supply chain analyst, I was able to predict whether an order was going to arrive on time or not. My target variable was whether the order came in on time or not, and my data set included variables like the planned arrival date, the vendor, the total number of pieces in the order, the total dollar amount of the order, how many days we placed the order under/over lead time, the lead time in days, how many days the arrival date was from the end of a fiscal quarter, and whether the order was for raw materials, a simple assembly, or a complex assembly.

Quality

As a quality analyst, I was able to predict whether one of our units was going to be returned. My target variable was whether the shipped unit was returned or not, and my data set included values from all of the different tests we run on our product before we ship it.

Retail

As a retail analyst, I was able to predict expected sales for my store location for the next 12 months. My target variable was historic sales values and the associated dates.

HR

As an HR analyst, I was able to predict whether an employee was going to quit or leave my company. My target variable was whether an employee quit or not, and my data set included variables such as the employee’s salary, years since last raise/promotion, current tenure at the company, age, gender, department, average hours worked each month, how many write-ups the employee had, and how many incidents the employee reported.

Customer/Sales

As a sales analyst, I was able to predict how long a client would stay with our firm. My target variable was how many months the client stayed, and my data set included certain information about the demographics of the client (age, salary, region, etc.), how long they’ve already stayed with us, how many complaints they have filed, and their account size.

Project

As a project analyst, I was able to predict how many hours the project would take to complete. My target variable was how many hours a project took, and my data set included variables like the size of the project, the complexity of the project, which project manager led the project, and the average years of experience on the team.

Operations

As an operations analyst, I was able to predict how much time over/under standards a certain production step would take. My target variable was how much time over/under a unit took, and my data set included things like the name of the assembler, the date of the operation, whether the unit had rework performed to it beforehand, which supervisor was on shift, which assembler performed the prior operation, and which shift the operation occurred on.

PR

As a PR analyst, I was able to review our company press release to ensure that we carried a positive tone throughout our statement. CitizenDS helped me identify the words contributing to a negative tone and showed me where in our statement we needed to rephrase our message to make it sound more positive.
